Job Description Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical services by ensuring that all medical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use. The ideal candidate will be CRCST certified, experienced in fast-paced hospital environments, and well-versed in maintaining compliance with AAMI, OSHA, and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
Operate autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other sterilization equipment
Assemble and inspect instrument trays, ensuring completeness and readiness for procedures
Track and maintain records for lot numbers, sterilization logs, expiration dates, and tray inventory
Identify and report defective or missing instruments for repair or replacement
Maintain proper storage and rotation of sterile items, ensuring stock is always current and in compliance
Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to provide timely delivery of sterile instruments
Follow all hospital, regulatory, and safety guidelines to maintain a sterile environment
Required Qualifications:
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification
1+ years of hands-on sterile processing experience in a hospital or surgical setting
Familiarity with AAMI/AORN standards and infection control protocols
Ability to operate sterilization and cleaning equipment safely and effectively
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
Basic computer skills; experience with tracking systems or EHR preferred
Current BLS Certification
